시온장로교회 설립 47주년감사예배를 6주 앞 두고, 준비에 대해 잠시 생각해 봅니다. 지난 47년간 성삼위 하나님께서 시온을 지탱하여 주셨고, 성장하게 하셨고, 시온을 통하여 메릴랜드지역에 예수 그리스도의 복음을 선포하여 오셨습니다. 수많은 위기를 지나게 하시고 여기까지 이르게 하신, 우리의 주인이신 성삼위 하나님의 은혜를 깊이 생각하면서, 깊고 진하고 진실된 감사를 담아, “영끌(영혼까지 끌어올린다는 21세기 속어) 찬양”을 올려드렸으면 하는 마음입니다. 그 찬양은 개별적으로 또는 몇명이서, 그리고 선교회와 구역이, 기도와 시간과 노력을 드려서 정성껏 준비하였으면 합니다. 우리가 서로의 생일을 기억하고 축하하는 일에도 때로는 최선으로 선물을 준비하는데 하물며, 우주의 창조주이시고 우리의 구원주이시고 인도자이신 성삼위 하나님의 은혜를 기억하고 감사하는 일이겠습니까? 곡조있는 노래와 더불어, 성삼위 하나님의 주권자되심을 인정, 고백, 감사하며, 앞으로의 걸음을 의탁하고, 그리스도인 답게 삶에서 복음을 나타내는, 성경적인 찬양을 드리는 자리에, 저와 함께 서지 않으시겠습니까?(시 9:11, “너희는 시온에 계신 여호와를 찬송하며 그의 행사를 백성 중에 선포할지어다”)
With six weeks remaining before the 47th Anniversary Thanksgiving Worship of Zion Presbyterian Church, I find myself pausing to reflect on our preparations. Over the past 47 years, the Triune God has sustained Zion, caused us to grow, and faithfully proclaimed the Gospel of Jesus Christ through us within the Maryland region. As we deeply ponder the grace of our Master, the Triune God—who has carried us through countless crises and led us to this very point—my heart longs for us to offer up a “soul-pouring praise”(coined by the modern expression meaning to draw up and offer the very depths of one’s soul) filled with profound, rich, and genuine gratitude. I pray that this praise will be meticulously and devotedly prepared through our prayers, time, and efforts—whether individually, in small groups, or through our Ministries and Cell Groups. Even when we remember and celebrate each other’s birthdays, we often do our best to prepare a thoughtful gift. How much more should we do so when remembering and giving thanks for the grace of the Triune God, the Creator of the universe, our Savior, and our Guide? Biblical praise goes far beyond melodies and songs; it is acknowledging, confessing, and thanking the Triune God for His sovereignty, entrusting our future steps to Him, and revealing the Gospel through a life worthy of a Christian. Will you not stand with me in this place of offering such true, biblical praise? “Sing praises to the LORD, who sits enthroned in Zion! Tell among the peoples his deeds!” (Ps. 9:11 ESV).
