시온장로교회 담임목사로 부임한 후 지금까지, 매 주일마다 하나님의 나라인, 시온을 사랑하며, 성삼위 하나님께 올려드린 시온지체들의 정성 어린 헌금과 더불어, 시온의 안팎에서 다양한 성도의, 힘에 지나게 올린 헌금과 헌물을 통해, 우리를 돌보시고 지탱하시는 그분의 손길을 목격하여 왔습니다. 1986년 10월 30일에 시작된 건물융자를, 사정상 두 번에 걸쳐 변경하면서40년째인 오늘에 이르렀습니다. 그동안 계속 추가납부를 통해서 원금을 낮추어 오던 중, 성삼위 하나님의 놀라우신 역사하심으로, 또 한 번의 상상할 수 없는 손길(시온을 사랑하는 성도)을 통해, 지난 금요일(5/22)에 건물융자를 완납하게 되었습니다. 시온의 주인이신 성삼위 하나님의 신묘막측(神妙莫測: 시 139:14)하신 섭리(攝理: 계획, 완성, 통치하심)를 뼈에 사무치도록 느꼈습니다. 모든 영광을 성삼위 하나님께만, 온 믿음과 마음과 정성으로, 올려드립니다! 앞으로도 우리 시온은, 성삼위 하나님께서 주시는 재정(시온 안팎의 성도들의 믿음과 피와 땀이 담긴 헌금)을 신중하게 사용하고, 그분께서 허락하시는 만큼 매년 축적하여 큰 재정을 사용해야 할 상황을 미리 지혜롭게 대비할 것입니다. (잠 21:20, “지혜로운 사람은 앞날을 위해서 저축하지만 미련한 사람은 닥치는 대로 써 버린다”(현대인성경))
Since my appointment as the Pastor of Zion Presbyterian Church, I have witnessed the sustaining and caring hand of the Triune God every single Lord’s Day. This has been revealed through the heartfelt offerings of the members of Zion who love His Kingdom, as well as the sacrificial gifts and offerings given beyond their means by many believers both within and outside Zion. Because we have modified the loan twice for some reasons, we were unable to fully pay off the building loan—which began on October 30, 1986—but we continually reduced the principal through ongoing additional payments. Then, the Triune God did a miracle. By the wondrous working of the Triune God and through another unimaginable hand of grace (a believer who loves Zion), we finally paid off the building loan in full last Friday (5/22). I have felt deeply, to the core of my being, the wondrous and unsearchable providence (His plan, fulfillment, and reign) of the Triune God, the true Owner of Zion. With all our faith, heart, and mind, we give all the glory to the Triune God alone! In the days ahead, we, Zion, will prudently manage the finances given by the Triune God—offerings imbued with the faith, blood, and sweat of the believers. We will wisely prepare for large future expenses by setting aside reserves each year as He allows. (Proverbs 21:20: “Precious treasure and oil are in a wise man’s dwelling, but a foolish man devours it.”)
