“도움”의 사전적 정의(“어떤 일이 이루어지도록 돕거나 지원함”) 위에서, 도움은 “누군가의 필요를 적극적으로 돕거나 실제적으로 필요한 것을 지원하는 것”이라고 할 것입니다. 저는 이번에 시온의 지체들을 통해서, 이러한 도움을 경험하였습니다. 하나는 교회의 유아실을 사용할 수 있게 꾸미는 것이고, 다른 하나는병원진료 및 재활에 관한 걸음을 결정하는데 필요한 도움을 다른 지체들과 나누는 것이었습니다. 도움을 주신 분들은 그동안 걸어오신 삶에서, 깊이 축적된 지식, 지혜, 노하우, 인간관계, 열정을 다해서 섬겨 주셨습니다. 그리하여, 필요한 일들이 잘 이루어지도록 수고와 희생을 감당하신 것이지요. 그래서, 먼저, 이 두분과 더불어 수많은 그리스도인들을 시온에 보내시고 준비시키셔서, 다양한 상황에서 효과적인 도움이 되게 하시고, 일을 이루어 가시는, 성삼위 하나님을 찬양합니다. 또, 이번에 도움을 주신 두 분과 지금까지 도움을 통해서 시온을 아름답게 섬겨 오신 수많은 시온의 지체들께 깊은 감사를 드립니다. “그에게서 온 몸이 각 마디를 통하여 도움을 받음으로 연결되고 결합되어 각 지체의 분량대로 역사하여 그 몸을 자라게 하며 사랑 안에서 스스로 세우느니라” (엡4:16)
Building upon the dictionary definition of “help”—which is “to assist or support so that a task may be accomplished”—we can further describe it as “actively assisting someone in their need or providing practical support for what is truly necessary.” Recently, I have experienced this very kind of help firsthand through the members of Zion. The first was the furnishing and decorating of the church’s nursery to make it useful. The second was the invaluable guidance shared by fellow member, which helped others make crucial decisions regarding their medical treatment and rehabilitation process. Those who offered their help served with all their heart, drawing upon a lifetime of deeply accumulated knowledge, wisdom, expertise, networks, and passion. In doing so, they took upon themselves the labor and sacrifice required to ensure that these essential tasks were successfully fulfilled. Therefore, I first offer my praise to the Triune God, who has sent and prepared these two individuals—along with countless other Christians—to Zion. He enables them to provide effective help in various situations and sovereignly carries out His work through them. I also wish to express my profound gratitude to the two individuals who helped Zion this time, as well as to the many members of Zion who have beautifully served Zion through their help until now. “from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.” (Eph. 4:16 ESV)
