Have you ever heard the sound of a North Korean female Christian praying wrapped in a blanket, dead silent to the outside world? It is a prayer whispered with utmost care, yet carrying a desperate cry from the depths of her voice. Realizing that we—who are no different from them—are able to freely prepare and offer this “3rd Zion Family Praise Worship” today reminds us what a truly special grace this is. Therefore, in an environment of freedom, we desire with all our hearts to give thanks that we can sing praises to the Triune God at the top of our lungs, giving our best while encouraging one another. Psalm 147:1 and 20 explain precisely why we must praise the Triune God with our songs and our lives. Verse 1 declares that praising Him is beautiful and fitting, stating, “Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting.” Then, verse 20 reveals the reason for that praise by stating, “He has not dealt thus with any other nation… Praise the LORD!”—because He has granted salvation specifically unto us. Whether those in North Korea who risk their lives to stand in that place of worship (praise and prayer), or the members of Zion in America who stand freely in that place of worship (praise and prayer), may we all—as beings captivated by the “grace of salvation”—firmly carry out a walk of faith of which the world is not worthy (Hebrews 11:38)!
