2026년도 제1회 임시공동의회를 앞두고 오랜 시간, 깊은 사색과 기도의 시간을 가져왔습니다. 제가 부임한 후 여러번에 걸쳐서 교회를 섬기는 분들을 선출하여 왔습니다. 어렵고 힘든 상황에서도, 성삼위 하나님께서는 주권을 가지시고, 시온공동체를 은혜로 붙잡아 주셔서, 한 마음 한 뜻이 되게 하셨고, 언제나 긍정적인 결과를 허락하여 주셨습니다. 그렇게 선하고 아름답게 시온을 인도하신 성삼위 하나님께 영광과 감사를 올려드립니다. 그러한 경험 위에서 볼 때, 시온의 자랑은, 성삼위 하나님의 은혜에서 시작되는 임재하심, 일하심, 불쌍히 여기심, 돌보심이라고 하겠습니다. 그 은혜 안에서, 오늘의 중요한 걸음과 걸음의 결과를 성삼위 하나님의 주권에 맡겨 드립니다. 잠언 16장 33절(제비는 사람이 뽑으나 모든 일을 작정하기는 여호와께 있느니라)의 말씀을 확실히 믿으며, 다함께, “코람데오(Coram Deo)”(“성삼위 하나님 앞에 서있다,” 시편 139편)의식을 확고히 가지고, 한 마음 한 뜻으로 선출의 과정을 걷고, 결국, “이번에도 참으로 그러하였다!”라고 모든 시온의 입이 고백하고 확인하는 자리에, 감격과 감사로 함께 세워져서, 더욱 더 견고한 시온공동체로 지어져 가기를 간절히 소망합니다.
Leading up to the first Temporary Congregational Meeting of 2026, I have spent a long time in deep meditation and prayer. Since my arrival, we have held several elections to choose those who would serve the church. Even in difficult and challenging circumstances, the Triune God, in His absolute sovereignty, has sustained the Zion community by His grace, uniting us with one heart and one mind, and has always granted positive outcomes. I offer all glory and thanksgiving to the Triune God, who has led Zion so faithfully and beautifully.
Reflecting upon those experiences, I can say that Zion’s true pride lies in the Triune God’s presence, His working, His mercy, and His care, all of which begin with His grace. Resting in that grace, I entrust today’s important step and its outcome to the sovereignty of the Triune God. Firmly believing the words of Proverbs 16:33 (‘The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD’), I earnestly hope that we will all maintain a steadfast awareness of ‘Coram Deo’ (‘standing before the Triune God,’ Psalm 139) as we walk through this election process with one heart and one mind. In the end, may we stand together in deep emotion and gratitude at the place where every mouth in Zion confesses and confirms, ‘Indeed, it was truly so this time as well!’—and may we continue to be built up into an even more steadfast Zion community.
