목회단상 Pastoral Reflections 020826

인생을 살면서 만나는 갑작스러운 일들이 우리의 삶에 영향을 미칠 때가 많습니다. 단기적으로는 우리의 생각과 결정을 반성하게도 만들고 때로는, 우리의 생각과 결정에대해 용기와 확신을 얻게도 만듭니다. 장기적으로는 우리의 삶의 방향을 점검하고 재조정하며 새로운 걸음을 내딛게도 만듭니다. 그 영향력은, 그 갑작스런 일의 종류, 크기, 무게에 따라 달라집니다. 아무래도 가장 크고 무거운 것은 “죽음”일 것입니다. 우리는 지난 1월 31일에, 사랑하는 시온가족 중 한 분이 하나님 아버지의 부르심을 받고영원한 본향에서 예수님의 품에 안기신 것을, 믿음으로 확인했습니다. 유가족을 포함한 우리 모두는, 크나 큰 “헤어짐의 아픔” 속에서도, 예수님을 우리의 구원주로 믿는믿음을 성삼위 하나님으로부터 선물로 받은 존재로서, 예수님의 재림과 함께 완성될 부활 소망을 다시 한 번 하나님의 말씀으로 확인하고 확신하게 되었습니다(고전15:19~20). 그 무게가 크기 때문에, 그 갑작스러운 일로 인하여, 유가족을 포함한 우리 모두는 오랫동안 우리의 삶의 방향을 점검하고 재조정하는 기회로 삼을 것입니다. 먼저 그 걸음을 마치시고, 평안한 안식 중에, 우리를 바라보며 기도로 응원하는 그 분의 방향(발자취)를 따라서, 우리 모두가 더 진실되고 신실한 예수님의 제자의 삶을, 예수님을 의지하면서, 묵묵히 힘있게 걸어가기 원합니다.

There are many times in life when sudden events profoundly affect our journey. In the short term, they compel us to reflect on our thoughts and decisions; at times, they grant us courage and confidence in them. In the long term, they lead us to examine and readjust the direction of our lives, prompting us to take new steps forward. The extent of this influence varies depending on the nature, magnitude, and weight of the sudden event. Without a doubt, the heaviest and most profound event is “death.” On January 31st, one of our beloved family members was called by Father God and now rests in Jesus’ arms in our eternal home. We affirm through faith that he is not dead forever but alive in Christ. Even amidst the immense “pain of parting,” we—who have received the gift of faith from the Triune God to believe in Jesus as our Savior—have once again confirmed and become assured through the Word of God of the hope of resurrection that will be completed with the second coming of Jesus (1 Cor. 15:19-20). Because of the weight of this event, all of us, including the bereaved family, will take this opportunity to examine and readjust the direction of our lives for a long time to come. Following his direction(footsteps), who has finished his journey first and is now in peaceful rest, praying and cheering us on, I pray that we may all quietly and powerfully walk the path of true and faithful disciples of Jesus, relying on Him.
