목회단상 Pastoral Reflections 011126

지난 주 중에 사랑하는 시온가족 두 분이 갑작스럽게 의식을 잃거나 움직임이 어려워진 채 응급실로 실려 가시는 상황이 있었습니다. 그러한 다급한 상황을 생각하면, 우리도 모르게 우리의 삶의 여정이 우리의 소망과 다르게 긴박하게 진행될 수 있다는 사실을 새삼스럽게 인정하게 됩니다. 그러한 상황을 만날 때마다 우리는, 그 경우에 맞는 적절한 조치와 도우심을 성삼위 하나님께 간절히 간구하게 됩니다. 동시에 하나님께서 하나님의 자녀인 우리를 위해 이루어 주신 구원(영원한 죄와 사망에서의 완전하고 완벽한 회복)의 가치와 의미를 깊이 생각하게 됩니다. 왜냐하면 많은 경우에 우리는, 우리가 하나님으로부터 기대하는 적절한 조치와 도우심을 경험하지 못하기 때문이고, 그러한 조치와 도우심이 우리의 구원의 증거이거나 하나님의 살아계심의 증거가 아니기 때문입니다. 예수님의 십자가와 부활로 완성하시고 우리에게 주신 구원은, 잠시 뿐인 이 땅에서의 삶의 여정에서의 조치나 도우심에 무게를 두지 않고, 영원한 천국에 무게를 둡니다. 많은 사람들이 이 영원한 천국(구원)을 받지 못한 채 이 세상에서의 여정을 마무리하는데, 우리는 이 땅에서의 삶의 여정 중에 우리의 창조주, 구원주, 그리고 목자가 되시는 성삼위 하나님을 만났고 믿고 고백하여 구원을 받았습니다. 생각하면 생각할수록 은혜임을 깊이 알고 고백하게 됩니다!

Last week, two of our beloved Zion family members were rushed to the emergency room in critical condition. Such urgent situations remind us that our life’s journey can often take a sudden turn, far different from what we had hoped. In these moments of crisis, we naturally and earnestly plead for the Triune God’s intervention and help. At the same time, we find ourselves reflecting deeply on the true value of the salvation God has granted us in Christ—the perfect restoration from eternal sin and death. We do this because, in many cases, we may not experience the specific earthly help from God we expect. We must understand that such temporary interventions are not the ultimate proof of our salvation or of God’s existence. The salvation completed through Jesus’ cross and resurrection does not find its ultimate weight in the temporary help we receive during our brief time on earth; rather, it is anchored in the eternal Kingdom of Heaven. While many finish their earthly journey without this eternal Kingdom (Salvation), we have been blessed to meet and confess the Triune God as our Creator, Savior, and Shepherd. The more we reflect on this grace of eternal life, the more we deeply confess that it is all by His boundless grace!
